Pricing Policy
At RV Geek, we prioritize complete transparency: no hidden fees, no surprise charges, no vague “we’ll see when we get there” estimates. You deserve to know exactly what you’ll pay before work begins.
Telephone consultations are always free—call us anytime if you’re unsure about an issue. We discuss pricing openly during that call if you’d like. What follows is our straightforward pricing policy in plain English.
FEE
What's Included in Your Diagnostic Fee?
One flat fee covers everything below — no add-ons, no hidden travel charges within our service area, no vague estimates.
* Diagnostic fee is non-refundable
Travel to Your Location
We drive to you anywhere within our standard service area. No towing, no hassle, at a time convenient for you.
Full On-Site Diagnostics
Thorough inspection of the system or issue — we don't guess, we find the actual root cause.
Repair Options Discussion
We walk you through exactly what we found, your repair options, and a clear estimate.
Honest Cost Assessment
We'll tell you straight if a repair isn't worth it — repair vs. replace, we give you the real picture.
Note on complex appliances: Furnaces and certain refrigerators require extra disassembly and safety checks, so these are diagnosed at an hourly rate rather than the flat fee. We identify this quickly — often during your free phone call — so you always know before we come out.
1. Diagnostic Fee / Trip Charge
This covers the visit and evaluation for most jobs:
- Travel to your location (within our standard service area)
- Thorough on-site diagnostics of the system or issue
- Detailed discussion of repair options
- Honest assessment of cost-effectiveness (repair vs. replace, etc.)
2. Repair Labor
At RV Geek, we do things differently to protect you from the surprise bills that are all too common in RV repair. Many shops charge a diagnostic/trip fee upfront, then start the clock on hourly labor—with little or no estimate given. You might expect $400 but end up with a $1,000+ bill because “it took longer than expected.”
We believe you deserve to know the full cost before we begin the actual repair. Here’s how we handle it:
- Fixed-price quote upfront — After diagnostics, we give you a clear, firm price for the recommended repair based on standard industry labor guides (book time) plus our real-world experience with hundreds of RVs. This is the amount you’ll pay for the agreed work.
- We stand by the quote — If the job takes us longer than anticipated (even if we underestimated or hit a snag we should’ve caught), we absorb that extra time at no cost to you.
- Hidden or unexpected issues — If we uncover something unforeseen during the repair (e.g., severe hidden corrosion, wiring damage, animal damage, leaks, or something not visible until disassembly), we’ll stop work, explain the discovery clearly, discuss your options, and get your approval before proceeding. We do everything possible to avoid surprises or “sticker shock.”
- No open-ended hourly billing — Unlike many shops that bill $150–$250+/hour as they go (with no cap), our model is intended to keep things predictable. You approve the price; we deliver the fix.
3. Parts
- We use only high-quality, reliable parts.
- Parts are priced fairly and transparently.
- Special-order parts require full payment upfront (non-refundable).
- Commonly stocked items (e.g., AC capacitors, sail switches) do not require a deposit if not immediately in stock.
4. Return Trips
- Multi-visit repairs or parts delays — If we need to order parts or return for a second visit (e.g., to complete installation after parts arrive), we’ll give you a clear, detailed estimate upfront. This includes any extra return-trip travel/labor and installation charges—so you know the full picture before approving.
- Location changes — If your RV moves to a new spot after the estimate is provided, we may need to adjust travel costs (e.g., if it’s outside our standard area). We’ll always discuss this with you first and get your approval—no surprises. Usually during the free telephone consultation.
5. Warranty
- 30-day labor warranty on all repairs we perform.
- Parts carry the manufacturer’s standard warranty.
- Warranty service is available within our standard service area.
6. Extended Travel
Are you further away that our normal service area but still need help? Call for an exact estimate and availability.
